Sophie Faucher talks about Frida Kahlo

Alliance Française de Toronto - 24 Spadina road - Toronto

Lecture – Talk

“For years, Frida Kahlo, the great Mexican painter, has impressed me as an example of creation and resilience. She inspired me to write a play, La Casa Azul, directed by Robert Lepage, a new performance based on her correspondence (currently touring with the Mariachi Figueroa company), and two children’s books. So it is completely natural for me to come and talk to you about her, about her painful and eventful life, about her passion for the great muralist Diego Rivera and his art that is so topical. I look forward to meeting you!” Sophie Faucher.

Having distinguished herself in cinema in many films such as Laurence Anyways, on television in Le cœur a ses raisons, or as a TV host, Sophie Faucher was applauded in the theatre, as Antigone or Marie Stuart. After her first book for young readers, she edited Frida, c’est moi, which was followed by Moi, c’est Frida Kahlo in 2017.

Sophie continues to discuss Frida, with the show Frida Kahlo: Correspondence, on stage on March 8 at 8pm at the Spadina Theatre.
